St Paul’s letter to the Loreto year 8 Community
To all God’s beloved in the Loreto community,
Grace to you and may you have peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. May your faith continue to grow and have a strong relationship with God and Jesus Christ. I hope that you can find a way to be people of the Gospel and grow in love, speaking the gospel so you can make the world a better place as Jesus intended. With all the technology in this world, may you use it to develop your faith and carry out the Word of God. As girls who are developing into lovely and smart young women, may you be blessed with the wonderful creations and opportunities in your life and as you grow older may you become wiser, spreading the Gospel and growing your faith with God.
Firstly, we place ourselves in the presence of our loving God with prayer.
Dear God,
We thank you God and Lord Jesus Christ because your faith is proclaimed throughout the world and here in Loreto we are able to peacefully carry this out. We thank you for all the gifts you have blessed us with such as a great education at a great school, unlimited access to food and water, family and friends whom care and love us and the opportunity to have freedom in what we do and believe. Today we are able to spread the Gospel and have faith in you Lord peacefully and we thank you and the early Christian communities who endured many bad things and persecutions so that we can now be a peaceful Christian. May you, Lord look after the Loreto community and strengthen them so they can have a continuous faith and relationship with you and can search for peace in the world by spreading the gospel. As the girls live in a place today with many luxuries and temptations, may you forgive their sins when they do something that turns them away from you and may you help them to become closer to you. We thank you God, our Father and Lord Jesus Christ for all the blessings we have and the opportunity to be a peaceful Christian.
Amen.
Your world that you live in today, has so many possibilities where you can aspire to do anything you want and have so much freedom in what you believe. I am amazed yet overwhelmed with the fast changing world you live in filled with so much technology and innovations. I lived as a tentmaker that didn’t have any machines nor did we have any new inventions that would help our work and I would have to write letters by hand and would take quite long to be sent but in this fast changing world now only with a click of a button, a message can be sent to somebody on the other side of the world. With social media, we are able to connect with everybody around the world and is a great way to spread the love and word of God, bringing people closer together through it. I am writing this letter to you so that through the use of social media, a big part of your lives
you can spread God’s word and have love for each other. Pope Francis is doing this very well as on his twitter account he posts messages on how to be a great Christian and have love for one another. Pope Francis is radical in finding creative new ways in which we can preach the message of God and come closer together. This brings me onto me next note, which is that today in a world where innovations and inventions are made so quickly, we need to find ways to be creative, innovative and radical in preaching the gospel. Today in this fast pacing world we can find many new ways to preach the gospel and being in a peaceful and free environment in your Loreto community, these things are very possible to do. Also Christianity, these days comes in so many forms such as Catholicism, Anglican, Uniting Church, etc. and from the small early Christian communities that I lived in, to today where the church has 2 billion followers around the world, I am just truly amazed. I am writing to you that you can continue to grow this church and your own faith as you are truly important today and you have the potential to change the world. As there are many forms of
Christianity, we are friends with lots of people and can share experiences and moments with them. Friendship today is very important and a step towards a more loving and peaceful word. I ask you to be friends with all those in your class, house and year so that this world can become closer.
Furthermore, I am informing you that you are so lucky and blessed to be able to be a free and peaceful Christian and you can control your own
faith. I need you to understand that other places in the world, cannot have their own faith and are controlled by others and experience extreme violence persecution because of their religion. When not wanting to go to your religion class or “can’t be bothered” to go to mass, you need to be aware that many people would just love to be a free Christian like you and would jump at any opportunity available so please be aware that you are so blessed to have these opportunities and go to a school where these opportunities are very much encouraged, live them out and remember you are so lucky. Throughout history, especially in the Roman times when I lived, we Christians had to fight hard for our faith and were persecuted because of it.
My Loreto Year 8 community, may you carry out these ways of spreading the Gospel and become closer to one another, knowing that God is there looking after you and you can do anything when you pray and have faith in God. Today, is fast moving but also stop and remember how lucky and blessed you are to have your life and have a relationship and faith in God. God will always be there and see God in all living things. May God bless you all and all those you love.
With many blessings,
St Paul
