St Paul
St Paul was largely responsible for the initial spread of Christianity. He is known worldwide as one of the earliest Christian missionaries. Paul had a broad outlook and was perhaps endowed as the most brilliant person to carry Christianity to varied lands, such as Cyprus, Asia Minor (modern Turkey), mainland Greece, Crete and Rome. He was the ultimate missionary, travelling throughout many countries, preaching the gospel of Jesus.
He established numerous churches during his travels.
Early Christian Communities
The first Christians were not isolated individuals but a faith-filled group who shared a common belief in the divine
power of Jesus Christ and his message to transform lives. The early Christians believed in one God: the
God who acted in the world and was concerned about them: the God who loved them. This set them apart from much roman society. Another important belief of the early Christians was their acceptance of all people. They decided that the gospel of Jesus should be preached to everyone and everyone had a place in the church. The Church was not the exclusive domain of any group.
